A cricket fan is to complain to the Commerce Commission about the pass-out policy for those with tickets to the terraces for cricket matches at Eden Park.
Kyle MacDonald wanted to go home to have his lunch but had to pay to get back in to see the second innings of the New Zealand versus Bangledesh match on Boxing Day, a Sunday newspaper reported.
Eden Park operations manager John Strawbridge said ticket-holders needed to read the small print.
The rule had been in place since 2005 when spectators pelted Australian cricketers with fruit. It is a condition of the park's liquor licence and is listed on the Eden Park website.
Fans in the stands at Eden Park can come and go via pass-outs.
