Northern Districts seamer Graeme Aldridge has broken the record for the most wickets in the domestic one-day cricket competition.
The 33-year-old has eased his way past former international Chris Harris, who took 138 wickets for Canterbury over a 20-year period before playing his last match for his province last year.
Aldridge, by comparison has reached 139 wickets at an average of 26 in 101 matches since his debut 12 seasons ago.
Northern Districts Cricket chief executive David Cooper today said Aldridge's fine achievement was appreciated by his teammates.
"This is a fantastic accolade for Graeme, who has been a long serving member of the Northern Districts team and it's a huge achievement for him.
"He's been a loyal team member and one that the coaching staff can always count on to stand up and deliver. We are very proud of his efforts."
Aldridge passed Harris when taking two wickets in his side's five-wicket loss to Otago in the preliminary semifinal at Queenstown yesterday.
