The Auckland Aces have made a winning start to their Champions League Twenty20 campaign with a seven wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders this morning.
Pakistan import Azhar Mahmood once again led the way for the Aces, taking 3-16 with the ball before top scoring with 51.
Auckland restricted Kolkata to 137 for six with Black Caps vice captain Brendon McCullum top scoring for the Indian Premier League side with 40 from 35 balls.
Mahmood dismissed McCullum before also taking the wickets of South African Jacques Kallis and Indian Manoj Tiwary, both for ducks, in a rare two wicket maiden.
Kyle Mills, Michael Bates and Ronnie Hira all picked up a wicket each.
