A Palmerston North couple have a dead uncle to thank for winning $333,333 in last weekend's Lotto draw.
The pair won a third share of the first division prize of $1m.
The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, said they had never had much luck with their own numbers so carried on the lucky numbers of an uncle who died four years ago.
False teeth, a brand new car and paying off the mortgage were top of the list for the couple who caught a bus to Wellington to collect their winnings today.
"We caught a bus to Wellington as we weren't sure where the NZ Lotteries building was or what parking was like," the wife said.
"On our way here we asked a woman for directions, and she asked if we were collecting winnings, then asked if she could rub us for good luck - I feel like a walking rabbit foot!"
