Malaysian weightlifter Amirul Hamizan Ibrahim claimed a clean sweep of the gold medals in the men's 56kg category. Ibrahim won the snatch and clean-and-jerk disciplines along with the overall title once the best scores from the two different lifts had been combined.
The 20-year-old finished with a total of 260kg, a Games record. Indians Thandava Muthu and Vickey Batta took silver and bronze respectively.
India's Kunjarani Nameirakpam made history by becoming the first Commonwealth Games gold medallist in women's weightlifting. She won the 48kg division. Manchester marks the debut for women's weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games.
