New Zealand had a happy ending to the evening at the pool last night when the women's 4x200m relay team picked up a second bronze.
Anchor swimmer Melissa Ingram staved off Canada in a torrid finish to keep the bronze by 0.04sec.
New Zealand challenged for the lead throughout, with second leg swimmer Helen Norfolk briefly leading.
Norfolk told NZPA the tension waiting for Ingram to touch had been intense.
"Lauren and I were just jumping up and down, jumping so high, we thought if we jumped up even more she'd go faster."
The quartet smashed the New Zealand by almost three seconds.
