The New Zealand men's pursuit cycling team has blitzed the field for gold at the World Cup event in Manchester this morning (NZ time).
They bettered the Great Britain team by just over 0.2 of a second in the final to finish in 4 minutes 08.142.
Coach Terry Gyde says they are the world champions so to take them down in their own country was sensational.
Gyde says they will need to ride about five seconds quicker to win gold in Melbourne's Commonwealth Games.
The team of Jason Allen, Hayden Godfrey, Tim Gudsell and Marc Ryan now have ten weeks off back training on the road before reconvening in late February for the Games.
Regular team member Peter Latham missed the meet with a dislocated shoulder.
In other results Anthony Chapman finished ninth in the men's points race, Paddy Walker was sixth in the women's individual pursuit and Liz Williams was 13th in the 500 metre time trial.
