The New Zealand men's hockey team began their build-up to the Manchester Commonwealth Games with a 1-0 loss to the German under-21s in Duisburg yesterday.
New Zealand, who had only had three days in Germany after a 30-hour flight, dominated possession, but could not convert any of their 10 corners.
