International and interstate visitors have flooded to Melbourne, sending hotels to record occupancy rates and pouring $A270 million ($312 million) into the Victorian economy, the Victorian Government said yesterday.
Organisers said 95 per cent of the 20,000 hotel rooms in Melbourne were sold out on the night of the opening ceremony, making it the busiest weeknight in the history of Melbourne's hotel industry.
