The New Zealand Olympic Committee has confirmed it received money from the organisers of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games but says it was all above board.
India's former sports minister Mani Shankar Aiyar says a number of Commonwealth countries, including New Zealand, were each given $136,000 to back New Delhi's bid.
However, New Zealand Olympic Committee secretary general Barry Maister says the funds are officially approved and are offered by all bidders.
"We just use them for our general organisation administration logistical work which we need to prepare the team to go to the games, something that has been become part and parcel of the bidding process."
Mr Maister says New Zealand did vote for New Delhi in 2003, but not because of the money offered.
