Jason Allen provided New Zealand with their sole medal from the weekend's racing at the World Cup track cycling meet in Los Angeles with the Oceania individual pursuit champion bagging bronze.
With one day's racing remaining, Allen's effort in the 4000m will have New Zealand cycling bosses grinning with the Commonwealth Games on the horizon.
Allen, 24, continued his top form from the Oceania championships last month when he clocked the second fastest ride of the meet taking bronze in 4m 33.731s, over 1s faster than the silver medallist's time in the final.
He also featured yesterday in the men's team pursuit with Sam Bewley, Richard Bowker and Darren Shea taking fourth in 4m 13.210s.
Dale Tye also claimed fourth in the women's 3000m individual pursuit in 3m 52.468s with Anthony Chapman finishing well back in the sprint.
