Shannon McIlroy has missed out on a chance to win New Zealand's first men's singles Commonwealth medal in 12 years.
The 27-year-old lost his bronze medal match 21-8 to Australian Aron Sherriff at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre.
His defeat means New Zealand finish the campaign with three medals; a gold for Jo Edwards in the singles, silver for para-open triples Barry Wynks, Mark Noble and Lynda Bennett and bronze for the women's fours team of Mandy Boyd, Selina Goddard, Amy McIlroy, and Val Smith.
Mike Kernaghan was the last New Zealand male to medal in the singles, earning a bronze a Manchester in 2002.
