The Commonwealth Games baton has arrived in Australia as part of its 288-day journey across 70 countries.
The Queen's Baton Relay set off from Buckingham Palace on Oct. 7 for its 198,000-kilometer (123,000-mile) journey. The 2014 Commonwealth Games open in Glasgow, Scotland next July 23.
The relay will visit a Perth children's hospital and two primary schools on Thursday. On Friday, the baton will arrive in Surfers Paradise in Queensland state, where it will be taken to the top of the tallest building on the Gold Coast, host city of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
On its final day in Australia on Monday, the baton will go to Cairns in north Queensland and Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef, then travel to Papua New Guinea.
