Cathy Freeman, who won a gold medal in the women's 4x400m last week, has rushed home to Australia to comfort her husband, who has throat cancer.
"I'm happy to walk away with the gold medal," she said. "It was totally unexpected. I think he will be pretty happy to have his wife home. I phoned him every day."
