After a medal-less opening day New Zealand are officially on the Commonwealth Games medal table thanks to cyclists Jesse Sergent and Eddie Dawkins.
The duo finished with a silver and bronze respectively, while once again the New Zealand swimmers fell short with Dan Bell the latest with a fourth placing.
The men's and women's hockey teams both had easy wins as did the Silver Ferns while the women's artistic gymnastic team finished seventh.
In other sports the women's team table tennis topped their pool and will face Malaysia in the quarterfinals while it was a good day for Kiwi boxers with Nathon McEwen, Angus Donaldson and Anthony Taylor all winning their opening bouts.
Both the men's pairs and women's triples bowls teams were defeated but the women's pair of Jan Khan and Manu Timoti remain unbeaten.
India proved they are the Commonwealth leaders when it comes to Greco-Roman wrestling after winning three golds overnight, while there was a shock in the pool when Australian breaststroke queen Leisel Jones was beaten in the 50 metres final by 18-year-old Aussie Leiston Pickett.
