New Zealand finished day one in Delhi just like they started, without a medal as the old fourth placing that haunted the team four years ago returned.
On the bright side the Silver Ferns and women's Black Sticks made the most of playing minnows in their respective sports - both opening the Games with comprehensive wins.

Silver Ferns crack the ton with ease
The defending champion Silver Ferns hardly broke a sweat in their thrashing of Papua New Guinea in their Games opener - passing the century mark with relative ease.
Backstroke duo make Games final
The New Zealand backstroke pair of Daniel Bell and Gareth Kean both qualified for the 50m backstroke final, as fifth and seventh fastest qualifiers respectively. That race will take place later tonight. Meanwhile Natalie Wiegersma missed out on bronze by a finger tip.
Uppercut for officials as boxers sweat over scales
Dodgy scales threw confusion into the boxing weigh-in after several boxers had stepped on the scales and showed up as overweight.

Medal update:
So a medal-less day for New Zealand while Australia struck gold on four occasions including two silvers. Canada, South Africa, Malaysia and Nigeria all opened the Games with a gold medal each on day one.

So we were well off on our pick of Moss Burmester yesterday so hopefully we don't jinx cyclist Alison Shanks who takes part in the 500m time trial on day two.

Swimming heats/finals
The heats continue in the pool with Moss Burmester back in action in the 50m butterfly along with Dan Snyders in the 100m breaststroke leading the New Zealand contingent(4pm). The finals tonight will feature Daniel Bell and Gareth Kean in the 50m backstroke (11.25pm).
Silver Ferns vs Cook Islands
The Ferns will be aiming to crack the ton once again today when they take on another minnow nation (10.20pm).
Hockey
The New Zealand men play their first game against Trinadad and Tobago (4.50pm) while the women look to maintain their perfect start when they take on Malaysia (10.50pm).
Cycling
Track cycling begins and features individual pursuit star Jesse Sergent, along with world class duo Eddie Dawkins and Alison Shanks in their respective time trials (6.55pm). The medals will be decided from 9.20pm.
Wrestling
Move over Randy Orton this is real wrestling, Greco Roman style. Sam Belkin takes part in the 92kg competition (12.05am).
New Zealand also take part in bowls, tennis, table tennis, shooting, boxing squash, gymnastics, archery and weightlifting on day two.
