Moss Burmester will be out to defend his Commonwealth Games title in the 200m butterfly final later tonight.

Swimming heats
The focus will be on the pool on the opening day with heats in the morning and the finals session later on in the day. Daniel Bell, Gareth Kean and Burmester will be in action for the men while Lauren Boyle, Penelope Marshall,Tash Hind, Hayley Palmer and Natalie Wiegersma will be the first New Zealand women to hit the water (4pm).
Silver Ferns vs Papua New Guinea
The Commonwealth Games defending champions open their campaign against relative unknowns PNG (6.50pm), while Australia face Samoa (4.50pm).
Women's hockey
The New Zealand women's hockey team face off against Wales in their first clash in Delhi (5.50pm).
Badminton
The mixed team event begins as the shuttle cock lets rips for another Commonwealth Games (5.30pm).
Swimming finals
The first medals in the pool are dished out later tonight (11.25pm). New Zealand's first medal could come from Moss Burmester in the men's 200 butterfly final (12.37am).
