Indian activists have set fire to an effigy of New Zealander Mike Hooper, the Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
The activists of Rastravadi Sena, or Nationalist Army, burnt the effigy on the streets of Delhi overnight after protesting alleged remarks Hooper made against India.
The protestors held signs that read 'Shame on Michael Hooper', 'Indian people will not tolerate the nonesense (sic) and stupid people like Hooper' and 'Hooper insulted our nation. Hooper go back'.
A straw man dressed in clothes including a photo of Hooper's face was set alight by the activists.
Yesterday Hooper came under fire from the Times of India for lavish accommodation and tax arrangements.
The newspaper's obtained documents showing taxpayers have been covering the rental cost of his farmhouse for the past few years, and six staff.
The Delhi Organising Committee's also paid the equivalent of more than NZ $600,000 to take care of Hooper's income tax liabilities it was reported.
