Hamilton Boys' High School are the national secondary school cricket champions.
They beat Wanganui Collegiate by 43 runs at Fitzherbert Park, Palmerston North.
The final day did not start until 1.20pm because of rain, and matches were reduced to 45 overs.
Hamilton BHS won the toss and batted first, scoring at a good rate for a total of 221 for five.
The player of the tournament was Hamilton opener Bradley Watling, who made 80 rubs, took two catches and made a stumping.
The city also produced the most consistent bowler: Cameron Weight finished the tournament with nine wickets.
The playoff match for third and fourth was switched to an artificial pitch on Ongley Park. Kelston Boys' High School scored 198, beating Southland Boys High School's reply of 99.
BOWLS
The Howick College pair of Chris Le Lievre and Bryan Clough won the third national secondary school bowls championships held in Nelson from Friday to Monday.
Rjendram and Rihari O'Brien, of Fraser High School, Hamilton, were the beaten finalists.
The Thames Valley combination of Tracey Kilpin and Kimberley O'Brien won the girls pairs, beating Tara King and Anna Tawhai, of Papatoetoe High School, 16-3.
The boys' singles was won by Callum John, of Te Aroha College, who beat Craig Fowles, of Stratford High School, 14-11. Jason Lindsay, of Sacred Heart College, was third.
TOUCH
Charisse Billing of Tauranga Girls High School has been named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch girls' touch team after the completion of the nationals in Nelson last weekend.
Paeroa College student Dean Williams was selected for the mixed side, as were Rosalia Tolove and James Kamana from Forest View.
The mixed team will tour the South Island early next year.
Rotorua students Maurice Stone and Willie Ripia (Boys High), and Hasley Metu (Forest View) won places in the boys' team.
The city's team finished fifth in the boys' competition - the best performance by a team outside Auckland.
Auckland schools won all three titles in the high-quality competition.
