All Black Carlos Spencer wed his live-in love yesterday in an affair characterised by celebrity-style security measures to shield the bride from paparazzi.
Partially obscured by two white umbrellas and shrouded in a sheer white wrap, Spencer's partner of seven years, Jodene Williams, was hastily shuffled indoors by security officers as she arrived at the venue.
The ceremony took place at 2.30pm in the Barrel Room at Church Road Winery in Taradale.
After a three-hour indoor photography session, the bride was again escorted under wraps to a marquee where the reception was held.
Described as a largely family affair, sports-fan onlookers were disappointed by the shortage of sports stars - although Jonah Lomu, All Blacks coach Graham Henry, and ex-All Blacks Dylan Mika and Craig Innes were spotted among the 150 guests.
Carlos Spencer wore a pin-striped suit while the bride was dressed in a sleeveless, full-length white silk gown with matching diamond choker, earrings and bracelet.
The first-five-eighths and former Toffee Pops TV ad hunk met Ms Williams at an All Blacks after-match function in Hamilton in 1998, and popped the question in May 2003.
The pair have a son, Payton Cruz, and live in Auckland, where Williams works as a sales representative for New Zealand Wines and Spirits.
