Lisa Carrington was New Zealand's stand out performer at the Australian Canoeing Grand Prix regatta here today, comfortably winning the women's K1 500-metre final from compatriot Teneale Hatton.
Carrington cleared out over the final stages to take the gold by 1.49 seconds in a time of one minute 54.03secs.
"It was really scary at about 250m, everyone was really close," Carrington said.
"I just tried to race my own race and not worry about the other people."
Carrington then teamed up with Hatton, Jamiee Lovett and Rachael Dodwell to finish with silver in the K4 500; Steven Ferguson and Daryl Fitzgerald also had to settle for second in the men's K2 500, only 0.59secs behind Australia's Murray Stewart and Jacob Clear.
Ferguson also claimed a bronze in the men's K1 500, another event claimed by Stewart.
