Kiwi paddler Ben Fouhy got his world canoeing championship campaign off to a solid start by winning his K1 1000m heat in Duisburg, Germany last night.
The Athens silver Olympic medallist and former world champion posted 3m 47.755s. However five other heats were won in significantly quicker times - the fastest being Canadian Adam van Koeverden, who won bronze in Athens, who recorded 3m 42.037s.
