In a country madly obsessed with a certain oval-ball code, Joseph Parker's world title may fall on some deaf ears.
But make no mistake, his victory over Andy Ruiz last night will sit in New Zealand sporting history alongside Rugby World Cups and Olympic golds.
And the 24-year-old champion has paid homage to the nation that raised him.
Speaking to Newstalk ZB's Tony Veitch, Parker reiterated his humble side by thanking all of those who helped him over the past three years.
"What a great win for our country and it's great to be a part of history," Parker said.
