Boxing: Silver for Weenink

Super heavyweight Greg Weenink recorded New Zealand's best performance of the Commonwealth boxing championships with a narrow loss in the final in Glasgow yesterday.

The Wellington fighter was never more than two points behind his experienced opponent, J. Kumar of India, for the first three rounds before Kumar took a points decision 12-8.

The silver medal continued a good year for Weenink, who won gold at the Arafura Games and Oceania championships.
