One should always expect the unexpected at Anthony Mundine press conferences.
But when someone gatecrashed Mundine's press event at Brisbane on Monday - then attempted to trash it - even "The Man" appeared surprised.
The outspoken boxer was just warming up ahead of Wednesday night's bout with IBO middleweight world champion Daniel Geale when all hell broke loose.
New Zealand boxer Gary "The Baboon" Gurr lived up to his moniker when he seemingly emerged from nowhere to demand a seat at the press conference.
Gurr takes on Sonny Bill Williams on the undercard in the rugby convert's one-off professional boxing appearance - and was obviously keen to begin proceedings.
"Did you start the party without me? Where is my seat?" Gurr said as he approached the press table.
A rudely interrupted Mundine turned to a bemused Williams sitting beside him and asked: "Who is this cat?"
A laughing Williams replied: "He's the guy I am fighting."
Mundine's manager Khoder Nasser had to physically turn Gurr away before the unheralded Kiwi heavyweight threw a water bottle at the table and kicked a seat as he left.
"Is this guy serious?," Geale could be heard asking his trainer.
Whether it was staged or not, it was a memorable cameo from Gurr who had already created headlines in New Zealand by claiming he could beat both Mundine and SBW on the same night.
"You will be sitting on the canvas, bro," Williams yelled out as Gurr begrudgingly left with his offsider.
Asked later if he was ready for his boxing debut after a crash course in the sweet science, Williams said: "I better be, that was pretty crazy.
"I think he has a few screws missing. I don't even know how he got here.
"He must have been camped outside our hotel."
After returning to Australia for the first time since he infamously left NRL club the Bulldogs for French rugby club Toulon, Williams knew it wasn't just Gurr who wanted to see him go down.
"I think a lot of people out there want to see me go down," Williams said.
"I will be looking to prove them wrong."
Williams didn't know too much about Gurr, only that he had been "talkin' trash" on NZ TV.
"I heard that he is a bare knuckle fighter, loves to get on the piss and have fights," Williams said.
"He must have a pretty heavy punch. But I will be looking to stay away and show people that I can box - not just another footy player that is a slugger."
Mundine was his usual confident self but heaped praise on his opponent - and so he should.
Sydney-based Geale, 28, from Tasmania is unbeaten as a professional (21-0, 13 by knockout).
This is only Mundine's second fight as a middleweight.
"I respect him as a fighter. In his career he probably hasn't lost many rounds, let alone fights," Mundine said.
"Daniel will beat most fighters, most contenders - but he won't beat me.
"This step is what is going to catapult me to where I want to be...(to the) top echelon of the sport."
The weigh-in has been confirmed for 12pm (AEST) on Tuesday - but just how Gurr will arrive for it is anyone's guess.
