Anthony Mundine's hopes of a big fight payday against champion Floyd Mayweather have been dashed.
The unbeaten Mayweather has officially announced he will go toe-to-toe with Haitian-American boxer Andre Berto on September 12, in his last bout under a multi-million dollar six-fight contract with Showtime.
The clash will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, the venue where Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao.
Mundine penned an open letter to Mayweather last month where he described himself as the "uncrowned best athlete of all time."
But Britain's Amir Khan, with a record of 31-3 with 19 knockouts, was a more realistic chance of taking on Mayweather.
