The Auckland Boxing Association will tomorrow night begin what it hopes will be regular pro-am shows that will boost finances to allow increased involvement nationally and internationally.
In the eight-round main event at the ABA's Ngahura St stadium, junior champion Santos Pakau makes his prodebut against amateur veteran Peter Dransfield, who is having his third pro fight.
Santos, 17, has four national junior titles, two Auckland junior titles and one New Zealand intermediate championship title, but he will have a hard run against Dransfield, who has had 70 fights as an amateur, including two shots at the Oceania Games team.
On the undercard, Louis Baker, from Grey Lynn, meets Henderson's Raphael Tai in a four-round middleweight contest.
* Reece Facoory has been re-elected president of the ABA for the 200-2001 season.
There were no notable changes to the committee also elected at the ABA annual meeting.
