Boxer Kirk Johnson has partially torn a chest muscle in training and will not be able to fight heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis in their scheduled bout on June 21 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
Johnson's promoter, Dino Duva, said the boxer had injured his pectoral muscle and a doctor had recommended complete rest for four to six weeks. He hoped to reschedule the bout in August or September.
A possible replacement for Johnson is Vitali Klitschko, Lewis' mandatory WBC challenger, who was scheduled to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard.
