Four-time ex-heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield continued his boxing comeback yesterday with a win over Lou Savarese at the Don Haskins Centre arena in San Antonio, Texas.
Holyfield, 44, won a 10-round decision, knocking Savarese, 41, down twice en route to raising his record to 42-8-2, with 27 knockouts. Savarese, whose record stands at 46-7, including 38 knockouts, was cut on the forehead in the first round.
Holyfield hurt Savarese in round three and sent him to the canvas. He floored Savarese again in the ninth.
The fight was scored 99-87, 98-90 and 96-91 for Holyfield.
