Four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield returns to the ring today, taking on Jeremy Bates in a 10-round bout that the ageing warrior hopes is the start of a comeback. Holyfield, 43, boasts a record of 38-8-2, with 25 knockouts. Holyfield last fought in New York on November 13, 2004, when he lost a unanimous decision to Larry Donald at Madison Square Garden and had his boxing licence revoked by the state on medical grounds.
