Danny Green says he has no excuses for his loss to his rival Anthony Mundine at the Sydney Football Stadium last night.
Green went down in a unanimous points decision after Mundine's superior speed and mobility neutralised his power-punching.
Mundine now progresses to a world title shot against unbeaten Dane Mikkel Kessler while Green's career hangs in the balance.
The Western Australian said he was simply beaten by a better fighter on the night and admitted he found it hard to live with Mundine's speed.
"He's hard to tag and to be honest it was a very difficult fight," he said in the ring after the bout.
"It's hard to explain, some nights you fire, some nights you don't. I'm not going to take anything away from Choc. I'm not going to say this or that or I didn't do this. Simple as that, I was beaten on the night by a better man."
He paid tribute to the fans who turned out for the fight.
"The support I've had has been unbelievable. It's difficult to lose in front of all these people - I'm trying to hold back tears mate - it's tough ... I'll be back."
Mundine meanwhile was basking in the moment and offering the chance of a rematch.
"I just want to thank Danny for a great fight," he said.
"He put up a good performance. He come around, he come prepared - I was the better man tonight Dan, thank you very much. We can do it again maybe, soon."
