An Auckland-born boxer has secured a world heavyweight boxing challenge.
Brisbane based Kali Meehan will take on WBO champ Lamon Brewster on September 4 in Las Vegas.
Meehan fought out of Auckland up until the end of 1998, when he shifted to base himself across the Tasman.
The move has clearly paid off with several key heavyweight wins in Australia and now an American title showdown at the Mandalay Bay Casino in September.
David Tua was due to fight Lamon Brewster for the same title earlier this year, but pulled out of the fight.
