Disgruntled boxing fans have lost out after an Auckland suburb lost power in the middle of the Floyd Mayweather - Conor McGregor fight.
Fans paid $10 a head to watch the match at the Mayfield Sportsbar on Wairau Rd on the North Shore. But the area lost power in the middle of the fourth round, one fan said.
The pub was at "maximum capacity" when the power went out, he said. "Everyone was like, 'What the f***?' They were chanting, wanting free beers. But the whole grid was down."
He and his friends found a live stream of the match and watched the rest of the once-in-a-lifetime match on their phones in the car. They didn't bother to get a refund.
"We didn't hang around. We just wanted to find the fight."
