KEY POINTS:
Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr tipped the scales right on the 147lb (67kg) limit on the eve of his WBC welterweight title fight with Britain's Ricky Hatton.
Challenger Hatton was two pounds lighter at the weigh-in.
Mayweather, who has a 38-0 win-loss record, is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
But Hatton (43-0) believes his high-tempo pressing style is ideally suited to defeat the American this afternoon (NZT).
The two fighters stood nose-to-nose after the weigh-in with Hatton then waving the American away as he took the microphone to tell his fans: "What can I say for a turnout like that?"
The hall was packed with a large contingent of noisy British fans singing: "There's only one Ricky Hatton".
The 16,800-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena sold out within 30 minutes of tickets being made available and internet resale sites are offering ringside seats for almost US$13,000 ($16,969).
An estimated total of 10,000 fans were expected to make the journey from Britain to watch the fight at the arena or at one of several closed-circuit venues along the Las Vegas strip.
Mayweather is a six-times champion in five different weight classes.
