Former world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs took only 28 seconds to knock out Rafael Pedro in Hollywood yesterday.
With the only punch he threw, Briggs stunned Pedro with a right to the head.
Pedro, a native of Cuba, fell to the canvas and was counted out by referee Sam Burgos.
The 38-year-old Briggs (49-5-1, 43 KOs) has now stopped 28 opponents in the first round.
Briggs, of New York, won the WBO crown with a 12th-round technical knockout over Sergei Liakovich in November 2006 but lost the title in his first defence against Sultan Ibragimov eight months later.
