A slight setback in boxer Shane Cameron's comeback from injury.
The New Zealand heavyweight is set to fight compatriot David Tua at the end of August, although the fight has been delayed after Cameron broke his hand in another fight.
Manager Ken Reinsfield says the surgeon had a back log of work he had to complete, so the surgery did not go ahead yesterday as intended.
Reinsfield says Cameron wants the surgery done as soon as possible, but these things can not be helped. He says top surgeon Tim Tasman-Jones is worth waiting for.
Reinsfield says there are some positives because Tasman-Jones has just returned from an overseas conference where a paper on boxing hand injuries was presented. The surgery will now happen on Friday.
Cameron is due to fight Tua on August 29th and Reinsfield says they are still aiming for that date despite this minor hiccup although they will know more about the realistic recovery a few days after the operation.
