British heavyweight Anthony Joshua has ignored the challenge of Joseph Parker and will instead fight for the world title in only his 16th professional bout after signing to fight IBF champion Charles Martin on April 9.
It represents a significant gamble for the 26-year-old, who has been carefully managed since winning gold at the London Olympics.
But after quick progress in talks over the past week, Joshua's team has splashed out a large financial package to convince the unbeaten American southpaw to face one of the most hyped talents in London.
It is a major boost for Joshua to get home advantage for his shot at a champion who only won the belt last month.
Earlier this month, Joshua indicated in a video interview he was keen to fight Parker and that a fight between the two most promising young heavyweights on the international scene was inevitable.
