American Bernard Hopkins stopped Felix Trinidad in the 12th round in New York yesterday to become the first undisputed world middlweight boxing champion in 14 years.
Hopkins, 36, dominated Trinidad, stunning him in the 10th round and knocking him down in the 12th before referee Steve Smoger stopped the bout during the final round. By then, however, Hopkins was well ahead on all three judges' cards.
