South African Corrie Sanders won the World Boxing Organisation heavyweight title with a surprise knock-out victory over holder Wladimir Klitschko of the Ukraine yesterday.
Klitschko was floored twice in the opening round and another fierce left from his little-known challenger sent him to the canvas again 27s into the second round to end the fight.
Germany-based Klitschko, 26, suffered the second defeat of a professional career featuring 40 wins, with 37 inside the distance.
Sanders, 37, who entered the bout with a record featuring 38 wins marred by only two defeats but had not met a big-name fighter, seized his last chance to win a major title.
