Bowls: Win for Robinson in Wales

Waikato bowler Kevin Robinson has beaten the English world No 17 Simon Skelton in the first round at the Welsh International Open Singles in Llanelli.

The match came down to a third tiebreak end before Robinson won 6-9 7-6 2-1 in the World Bowls Tour professional event.

Fellow New Zealander Jamie Hill, last month in giant-killing form in reaching the semifinals at the World Indoor Singles, earlier this week lost his opening round match in Wales to world No 1 Andy Thomson, of England.
