Bowls: Three family combos in pairs finals

Three family combinations are through to the pairs finals at the national bowls championships in Christchurch.

Sisters Mandy and Angela Boyd have overcome New Zealand reps Jo Edwards and Val Smith 17-16 in their semi-final to book a place in the women's pairs decider against the mother-daughter combination of Leigh and Kirsten Griffin.

The Griffins beat Sandra Keith and Serena Mathews 22-19 in their semi-final.

Black Jacks rep Ali Forsyth and his father Neville have beaten defending men's champions Rob Ashton and Peter Sain 18-10 in their last four match.

They'll face Andrew Howie and Greg Dale in the men's pairs final, after the Australians ousted Wellington young guns Seamus Curtin and Euan Wong.

The pairs finals will take place this afternoon, after the men's and women's singles deciders, which are underway.

Through seven of 18 ends, Shannon McIlroy is leading New Zealand teammate Paul Girdler 6-4 in the men's final.

In the women's final, Australia's Kelsey Cottrell is in charge against young Cantabrian Tayla Bruce.

Cottrell's leading 9-4 after seven of 18 ends.
