Nineteen-year-old Shannon McIlroy will play the singles for the New Zealand bowls team in the unofficial test series against Canada in Christchurch from January 22-24.
McIlroy has made spectacular progress in the past 12 months, becoming the first teenager to win a national title (the fours in Lower Hutt last January) and also the first teenager to be selected for his country.
