Former New Zealand bowls internationals Ian Dickison and Philip Skoglund were named yesterday in interisland teams to contest the final trial of the season.
Skoglund, of Palmerston North, last played for New Zealand in 1994 and Dickison in 1993. Skoglund made himself available again only during the national championships in Christchurch last week, when he won the pairs title and was a beaten finalist in the singles.
Dickison had been ignored by the selectors since shifting to Australia, but he joins incumbent Peter Belliss as one of two Australian-based players named for the North v South fixture in Dunedin on February 13 and 14.
North: Adam Newman (Victoria), Russell Meyer (Northern), Peter Shaw (Northern), Rowan Brassey (Okahu Bay), Mike Kernaghan (Hillsboro), Philip Skoglund (Northern), Maurice Symes (Johnsonville), Brian Baldwin (Paritutu).
South: Peter Belliss (Australia), Kelvin Scott (Belfast), Andrew Curtain (Elmwood), Andre Smith (Havelock), Terry Scott (North East Valley), Ken Walker (Fairfield), Ian Dickison (Australia), Paul Girdler (Fairfield).
