The New Zealand bowling pair of Ali Forsyth and Genevieve Baildon had top placings in the men's and women's sections respectively at the World Junior Cup in Hong Kong yesterday.
Forsyth, from Nelson, claimed second place at the inaugural tournament for bowlers aged 25 and under, while Baildon finished third.
Forsyth ended his campaign with a loss to Singapore's Melvin Tan 6-7 9-5 1-2, but had beaten Junichino Yoshida from Japan 10-2 14-3.
Baildon, 19, ended on a high note, dispatching Thai bowler Arpa Phonghanydh 5-10 9-6 2-1.
At the same venue as the juniors, the World Cup is nearing completion with the final round of section play tonight before the weekend's playoffs.
The top four nations in each section qualify for the knockout stages of the indoor event.
North Harbour's Lisa Dickson moved to fourth place after six rounds with her comprehensive 16-2 11-2 win over her Canary Islands opponent.
Meanwhile, Terry Johnson of Manawatu finished his qualifying matches with a 14-3 12-5 win over Jimn Lim of Korea.
The win was not enough to push Johnson into the top four as he finished fifth.
