New Zealand cruised into the knockout stages of the fours competition at the women's world bowls championships this morning with a 19-16 win over Guernsey.
For the third day running, wet weather and cold temperatures greeted New Zealand at Leamington Spa, England.
But it was not enough to stop Jo Edwards, Sharon Sims, Val Smith and Wendy Jensen from setting up a quarterfinal date with Jersey on Friday morning (NZtime).
The Edwards skipped four controlled their match with Guernsey, adjusting to the conditions for their win.
Elsewhere, two big wins to Wales saw them qualify in top spot ahead of New Zealand on shots differential.
Singles player Marlene Castle did all she could to ensure a high finish in her pool by defeating Maureen Payne of the Isle of Man 21-6.
But results in the other qualification matches left Castle in fifth place in the group.
Castle now enters the playoffs for 17th to 20th place with her first match against Norfolk Island on Thursday morning.
The winner will meet Zambia or Thailand in the 17th place playoff.
The semifinals and final of the fours will be played Saturday morning (NZ time).
