An independent judiciary has come down hard on skip Gary Lawson after his team was found guilty of match-fixing at last year's Asia-Pacific bowls championships.
Lawson is the only member of his team to receive a suspension, and as well as being banned for six months, he has been fined $5000.
The two time world champion has described the fine as excessive and says he is resigned to missing this year's Commonwealth Games.
Lawson plans to appeal the decision.
His teammates have escaped a suspension but have been fined $1000.
