New Zealand bowler Richard Girvan has advanced to the men's singles final at the A$50,000 ($60,313) Helensvale grand prix in Australia.
Girvan, 34, beat Commonwealth Games triples gold medallist Wayne Turley on the second end of a tie-breaker at Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast yesterday.
Girvan, who represented New Zealand at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, lost the first set by three shots before powering through the second to take the set 12-6 and push the game into a tie-breaker.
With plenty of momentum going into the best-of-three-ends shoot-out, Girvan took just two ends to claim the match 5-8, 12-6, 2-0.
Girvan has already won the pairs title at the Helensvale grand prix.
Tasmanian-based Mark Strochnetter was to play former Queensland singles champion Anthony Kiepe in the second semifinal this morning.
