KEY POINTS:
New Zealander Jamie Hill lost his first-round singles match today (NZT) against qualifier Richard Moses (England) at the world indoor bowls championships in Norfolk, England.
Hill, who last year reached the semi-finals as a qualifier, crashed out 12-4 9-5 to Moses, a former England international.
Hill joins fellow New Zealanders Doug Thomas and Steve Posa on the sidelines after comprehensive losses.
Rowan Brassey is the only New Zealander through to the second round of competition, although 19-year-old Steve Wood will be looking to join him after first-round match against Australian under-25 international Ricky Lindbeck later today.
The pairs final was won by top seeds Billy Jackson (England) and David Gourlay (Australia) 14-3 9-6 over Welsh duo Jason Greenslade and Robert Weale.
