New Zealand's world ranked pairs bowls combination of Jo Edwards and Val Smith have been knocked out of the Asia Pacific Championships in Christchurch today.
The duo lost to their Philippines rivals, who are coached by former Kiwi rep and world champion Andrew Todd, 16-13. The Philippines will play Australia in one semi while the other features Malaysia and Norfolk Island.
The surprises did not stop there with the defeat of World No 2 singles player Ryan Bester of Canada losing to Sydney-based Japanese player Kenta Hasebe who will now face Kiwi rep Mike Kernaghan in the semis. The other semi-final pits Australia against Malaysia.
The Paul Girdler-skipped Kiwi fours team are up against Malaysia in one semi-final today while Australia face Hong Kong-China in the other.
