Canterbury held on to win the national intercentre bowls tournament in Palmerston North yesterday.
Second overnight behind defending champions Dunedin, Canterbury won three of their remaining six games to win the title by one point from Waikato.
Wellington were third and Dunedin fourth after they won just two of yesterday's six games and lost all three in the final round.
Waikato won the women's title, two points ahead of Canterbury.
It was a fine turnaround from Waikato after they won just one of three games in the opening round to lie third overnight behind Canterbury and Far North.
The best Waikato performance was from singles player Doreen Schumacher, who dropped only one game over four days in the interclub finals for Matamata and in weekend's intercentre finals.
